The Ice Breaker Social is a potluck dinner held at the vice-commodore’s house. They provide the chili, the club provides the drinks and the members provide the rest! At this meeting, we set our calendar for the year.
This commemoration of the sinking of the Titanic will take place at 6 p.m. inside Forward Brewing, 418 Fourth St, Annapolis, MD 21403.
Meet up with the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the American Schooner Association at Swan Creek Marina, Rock Hall. The Sunday sail home will feature a friendly competition north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, perhaps circling the Baltimore Light, Swan Creek entrance buoy and the Craighill Channel lower range light. Spend 4th of July eve with CTSA watching fireworks in Round Bay. We will be rafting up. Look for the boat with a CTSA burgee unless you are the first one to arrive. In that case, drop anchor, hoist your burgee and others will find you.
Bring your small boat or dinghy and join this club picnic for a day on the water in Round Bay. Details in the member listserv.
The evening before the Old Salt Sail (see below), CTSA members raft up to listen to Them Eastport Oyster Boys floating concert in Shaw Bay. Just look for the old boat with a CTSA burgee. If you don’t see anyone you might be the first to arrive. So drop anchor, raise your burgee and others generally will find you. This year, because of the EYC Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous & Race, the Old Salt Sail will be postponed two weekends.
On Sunday, our annual sail goes from the Miles River to Saunders Point.
START: Between 1030 and 1035 (GPS time) next to BUOY “8” in the Miles River. Take your own time as you leave it abeam close aboard.
COURSE: R”6” AND R”4” off Tilghman Point to port. Take G”1” off Kent Point to starboard. Take Bloody Point Light to starboard.
FINISH: Close aboard and abeam of the quick flash light off Saunders Point.
The Dean Worcester Memorial Cup will be awarded to the member boat completing the schooner race with the best time while flying the CTSA burgee. For more information about the schooner race, see https://gcbsr.org/.
